Drift Correction
Over time, the detected light from a source fluctuates or drifts. For extended experiments, you achieve the
best results if you can take frequent reference spectra. However, for those of you who cannot afford that
luxury, you can choose to monitor the light source and OOIPS2000 will correct for any drift that might occur.
The region you choose as the reference area must be in a non-absorbing region of the sample (for absorbance
measurements) or in the 100% transmission region of the sample (for transmission measurements).
Enable
To correct for variations in spectral intensity due to light
source and system drift, choose
Spectra | Drift Correction |
Enable
from the menu.
Configure
To set the parameters for correcting drift, select
Spectra |
Drift Correction | Configure
from the menu.
Enable Drift Correction.
Enable this function to
correct for variations in spectral intensity due to light
source and system drift. This functions is the same as selecting
Spectra | Drift Correction |
Enable
from the menu.
Non-absorbing Wavelength (nm).
Choose a wavelength as the midpoint of your reference area.
The region you choose as the reference area must be in a non-absorbing region of the sample (for
absorbance measurements) or in the 100% transmission region of the sample (for transmission
measurements). Also, try not to select a region that has low scope mode intensity. For the best
results, make sure that the scope mode intensity of the region that you are using as your reference
is at least 15% of the peak intensity.
Bandwidth (nm).
Select the total bandwidth of the reference area. In the picture above, for
example, a bandwidth of 10 means that the region from 10 nm below the wavelength of 700 to
10 nm above the wavelength of 700 is the monitoring region.
Scale
Autoscale
To adjust the scale of a spectrum such that its entire Y axis fills the display area, click the
autoscale icon or select
Spectra | Scale | Autoscale
from the menu.
Set Scale
To open the Set Scale dialog box allowing you to specify the minimum and maximum limits of
both the wavelength (X axis) and amplitude (Y axis), click the set scale icon or select
Spectra | Scale |
Set Scale
from the menu.
Unscale
To reset the scale of a spectrum such that the default scale fills the display area, click the unscale
icon or select
Spectra | Scale | Unscale
from the menu.
