To delete a setup (administrator password)
—Type the
current password in the Old Password field, then press
F10
.
3. To save your preferences, then close Computer Setup and
restart the computer, select File

Save Changes and Exit,
then press
Enter
.
4. When prompted to confirm your action, press
F10
.
Setting a Setup (Administrator) Password
in Compaq Computer Security
1. Access the Computer Security tab in the passwords window.

Passwords icon, then select the Computer Security tab.

Right-click the Compaq Computer Security icon in the
Windows taskbar, then select Password Properties.

Passwords icon.

Windows taskbar, then select Password Properties.
2. Press the Set button for Administrator Password.
3. Type the password in the Enter Password box.
4. Type the password in the Verify password box.
5. To apply the new password, select the OK button.
Entering a Setup (Administrator) Password
To access Computer Setup
—When prompted for the setup
password, type the password using the same keys you used to set
the password, then press
Enter.
After 3 unsuccessful attempts
to enter the setup password, you must restart the computer and
try again.
To access system setting displays in Compaq Computer
Security
— When prompted for the administrator password, type
the password using the same keys you used to set the password,
then press
Enter
.
If you enter the password incorrectly, protected
settings will be visible but inactive, and you must restart the
utility to try again.
