Battery Conservation Checklists
Battery Conservation Practices
■
Exit modem applications and turn off local area network
(LAN) connections when you are not using them.
■
Disconnect external equipment you are not using that is not
connected to an external power source.
■
If you leave your work, initiate Suspend (Standby) or
Hibernation or shut down the computer.
■
Stop or remove PC Cards you are not using.
■
Use the
Fn+F10
hotkeys to quickly raise and lower display
brightness as you work.
■
Run the computer on external power while formatting
a diskette.
Battery Conservation Settings
The procedures for using the following settings vary by operating
system. To find information about using these settings in
your operating system, refer to the Table of Contents or Index in
this guide.
■
Run the computer in Battery Optimized mode.
■
Select the High battery conservation level or create a Custom
battery conservation level with even lower settings.
■
If you are using a PC Card modem, set the computer to turn
off power to the PC Card modem when it is not in use
(Windows 95).
■
Turn off auto insert notification (Windows 95, Windows 98,
or Windows NT 4.0).
■
Disable Infrared Monitor search (Windows 95 or
Windows 98).
