Installing a New Battery
Compaq ProLiant DL580 servers have memory devices that require a battery
to retain stored information.
Peripheral Board Battery Replacement
When your server no longer automatically displays the correct date and time,
you may need to replace the battery that provides power to the real-time clock.
Under normal use, battery life is usually about five to 10 years. Use a Compaq
540-milliampere lithium, 3-volt replacement battery (P/N 179322-xxx).
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment:
■ Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an
important safety feature.
■ Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that is
easily accessible at all times.
■ Disconnect power from the server or other product by unplugging the
power cord from either the electrical outlet or the server or other product.
