Installing a PCI Hot Plug Expansion Board
IMPORTANT: Do not scrape the PCI Hot Plug expansion board against any other
component.
1. Install the same type of PCI expansion board into the same expansion
slot, pushing firmly until it is seated securely
.
2. Close the expansion slot release lever from the rear of the unit to secure
the board and secure the rear retaining clip. Ensure that the lever latches
into the closed position
.

3. Connect the expansion board to system board connectors as needed.
NOTE: Leave enough slack in the cable between the system board and the expansion
board so that you can add or remove other components without disturbing boards already
installed.
4. Activate power to the slot through the PCI Hot Plug software
application or press the PCI Hot Plug button above the slot.
5. Verify the slot status by checking the green LED and amber LED. The
green LED flashes during the power-up transition and stays on when
power-up is complete.
6. Close the PCI Hot Plug access door.
7. Reconfigure the server, if needed, to install drivers or other software
components. See Chapter 7, “Server Configuration and Utilities,” for
additional information.
